Pattern:
Drops pattern #103-1 (for "Eskimo" or "Silke-Alpaca" Drops yarn).
Yarn: Briggs & Little "Heritage" Method: Hand knit Completed: April 3,
2009.
I always like Briggs & Little yarn -- it's very much wool, and
therefore slightly scratchy. But, it has really great "bounce",
and it knits up into something light and warm and sturdy.
Something odd occurred here, though -- the post-project row gauge is
different from what I had gotten in my test swatch (which also had been
washed and dried before measuring). This means the jacket is 2 -
3" shorter than it should be. I do think it would be better at
the original length. Oddly -- I don't think the sleeves
shortened as much. I'll have to see if re-washing and blocking
more carefully (to stretch the length) helps at all.
Also, if I had it to do again, I would probably not keep the
exaggerated flare at the bottom of the sweater (at least, not unless I
had a very drapey yarn and expected it to just ... drape).

jacket. Wish I'd straightened the right front piece properly.

nice the collar is in this pattern
Here it is laid out -- and
you can see the obvious flaring in the jacket
