Green Apple Cardi (2011)
March 13, 2011 - No Comments
Pattern: Black Purl “Claudie A61” with van dyk lace panels and 3/4 sleeves Yarn: Spirit Trail IXCHEL, in spring greens (approx 1,000 yds) Method: Hand knitting Completed: March 13 2011. |
This is yarn is 100% superfine alpaca. Not an obvious choice for an adult sweater — alpaca is heavy, and might have a tendancy to drag. On the other hand, this is quite fine, and it is a summer weight cardigan, so it seems to work.
The yarn was fun to work with — it’s beautiful, and feels delightful. The colour variations (greens, yellows) are subtle enough not to be garish or create bad pooling, or different effects in different-width sections of the piece.
The pattern is quite nice, too — it has options for capped sleeve or 3/4 sleeve (as here), and the lace panels can be replaced by a cable pattern (provided), or any other pattern on the same number of stitches.
