Make Your Colors Sing Towels (2022)

Pattern: A 4 shaft 3/1 Twill pattern set by the instructor
Yarns:

  • Warp: 336 ends plus floating selvedges, measured at 3.5yds, 10/2 mercerized cotton in various colours
  • Weft: 10/2 mercerized cotton, in various colours

Sett: 24epi

Method: Weaving ā€” multishaft floor loom.

Completed: February 21, 2022.

This was a 2021 Tien Chiu class (“Make Your Colors Sing”). I got the weaving off the loom in August of 2021, but I only got them wet-finished and hemmed in early 2022.

The project was aimed to play with a separating draft. That is, the warp and weft were adequately separate that I wasn’t working with blending colours. Apart from not needing to worry about how colours would mix, it meant that the front and the backs of the towels were completely different (warp-faced on one side, weft-faced on the other). It permitted some pretty wild use of colours šŸ™‚
